The BSSK is for young people aged 12 to 19. Qualified teachers teach six classes, from Senior 1 to Senior 6. Students are prepared for O-Level (ordinary) and A-Level (advanced), successful completion of which qualifies them to continue their studies at a university or college. Compulsory education ends with the completion of Year 4. Students wishing to pursue higher education complete six years of secondary school and conclude their time at the BSSK with the national examinations (UNEB). The school is registered with the ministry of education and sports and holds a state operating license.
Starting in the first year of secondary school, young people have the opportunity to take vocational courses. This allows them to acquire job-specific skills that they can further develop at a higher level after completing the fourth year. This provides them with the foundation for a regular income and an independent life later. State certificates are awarded for completed courses both after the fourth year of secondary school and for further education.
Students have the option of living in the school’s own boarding school. Girls and boys are supervised in separate buildings. The school kitchen provides them with three meals a day. Everyday items and snacks can be purchased at the affiliated kiosk.
