After the disruptions in education caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the secondordinary school year began at the end of January. Welcoming the pupils to the school is progressing slowly, dragging on over a period of two weeks. This time the nuns took onto themselves the thankless task of accepting only those pupils who could present proof of having paid their school fee. Although Regina took a step back to dedicate her time to other tasks, a few obstinate ones did manage to find their way to her. Sponsorships and school fee donations<\/a> will remain needed in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As was planned, the three nuns from the Dominikus Ringeise-Werk Uganda took<\/a>\nresidence in their house on the school campus in the second week of January. They helped with the preparations for the new school year and supported Regina by assuming some of the responsibility for welcoming the pupils to the school. The three see it as their mission to work together with Regina to help bring the Beatrice Secondary School Kyankwanzi forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For several years now, Regina has observed that graduates of the school have either found a place on the labour market or have started their own business. Many of these young professionals had come from different regions and also returned to their home regions. In Kyankwanzi, however, this figure is quite low, which led Regina to take up this issue and discuss with a group of motivated individuals the question of how to support young adults in entering the labour market. Since the majority of young people in this rural area prefer working with their hands, one-year vocational training courses appear to be a good solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n After a long period of preparation, Regina and two vocational school teacher have already visited the nearby villages, met with the \u201clocal leaders\u201d and presented the project to them. The project was met with great enthusiasm, and the local leaders now have the task of choosing young people willing and able to participate in this manner of vocational training. The selected young men and women will visit a course they choose from a wide range of possibilities on two days per week. After one year, they will receive a certificate that will enable them to find a job or start a business. This will increase the visibility of the BSSK\u2019s work in the immediate area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It is with great delight that we announce to you that Regina is planning to spend a month in Switzerland together with her 9-year-old daughter Jodie starting from\n25 April.
